Vibes for Serato.

Serato crates are flat, and Smart Crates only filter what is already in your metadata. Vibes adds the layer Serato does not have: mood and energy tagging, a fast sorting workflow, and a visual set builder, exported back as clean crates.

Vibes DJ Library Organizer Interface showing track organization

Vibes & categories are fully customizable.

From Serato and back, in three steps.

01

Import your Serato library

Vibes detects your Serato library folder and reads your crates directly. Every crate can be mapped to a vibe during import, so existing organization is not lost.

02

Organize and prepare

Define vibes that match how you actually play, sort your collection at speed in Vibe Sort, and build sets on the Set Designer canvas with suggestions by BPM, key, and vibe.

03

Export crates back

Vibes writes a Vibes Library structure of .crate files: one crate per vibe, your sets in order, and combination crates for overlapping vibes.

What Vibes adds on top of Serato.

Serato stays your performance software. Vibes covers the preparation layer.

What lands back in Serato.

Vibes writes standard .crate files into your Serato library, so the structure appears in your crate list.

  • A Vibes Library structure with one crate per vibe, grouped by your category names
  • Your DJ sets as crates with the exact track order you designed
  • Combination crates for tracks that share multiple vibes
  • Optional BPM-range or Camelot-key sub-crates inside each vibe

Honest limitation: Serato's .crate format does not carry ratings, cue points, or comments, so Vibes exports clean crates only. To Rekordbox, Engine DJ, and Traktor, Vibes also exports that richer metadata.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

No. Vibes adds its own Vibes Library crates alongside your existing ones. Your current crates, cue points, and history stay untouched.
That is a limit of Serato's .crate format, not a Vibes setting. The format only carries crate membership and order. Vibes grays those options out for Serato instead of pretending they work, and exports them to Rekordbox, Engine DJ, and Traktor where the formats support it.
Smart Crates filter on metadata you already have, like genre, BPM, or comment text. Vibes creates the missing metadata layer: how a track feels and where it belongs in a set. You tag once in a fast keyboard-driven workflow, and every vibe becomes a crate Serato can use.
Never. Vibes references your files where they are on disk and does not modify the audio. Your Serato library keeps pointing at the same files.
Yes. Vibes runs its own BPM and key detection for organizing and suggestions, but it does not touch Serato's beatgrids or analysis. Both coexist on the same files.

Methodology

How we keep this honest.

Verified against the app

What transfers both ways is tested against the current version of Serato.

We own our bias

Vibes is our product, and we are upfront about format limits, like Serato's flat crates not carrying cue points or ratings.
