Harmonic mixing in Rekordbox.

With key analysis on, Rekordbox can highlight harmonically compatible tracks in your browser using its Traffic Light feature, and surface related tracks from your collection via the Related Tracks panel.

01

Enable key analysis and set Camelot display

Go to Preferences > View > Key display format and choose Alphanumeric to show Camelot codes (1A, 8B, etc.). Also confirm that key analysis is enabled in Preferences > Analysis so tracks are tagged with key data.

02

Activate Traffic Light and select the target deck

In the browser header area (near the search box), click the Traffic Light button to enable it. A pull-down appears letting you choose which deck to reference. Select the deck whose track you want to mix from. Compatible keys for that deck will now be highlighted in your track list.

03

Read the highlighting

Rekordbox uses its Traffic Light system to color-code keys relative to the selected deck. Harmonically compatible tracks appear highlighted in green in your playlist or collection. You can tune the match range in Preferences > View > Traffic Light, from Same key up to Related key 3, which covers same key plus up to three Camelot steps away.

04

Use Related Tracks to browse by key and BPM

Open the Related Tracks panel (icon on the right side of the screen, or the left panel in Export or Performance mode) and configure the criteria to filter by key and BPM range. This searches your whole collection at any time, not only while a track is playing, so you can use it for pre-gig planning as well as live selection.

The catch

Traffic Light highlighting only applies to tracks already in your Rekordbox collection and playlists, and it does not work when browsing a streaming service playlist directly in Rekordbox. For whole-library harmonic planning outside of a live set, use Related Tracks or an Intelligent Playlist filtered by key.

Frequently asked questions

Rekordbox highlights within your loaded collection. Vibes' Find Compatible filters your entire library to mixable tempos and harmonically related keys at once, which is better for planning ahead.
No. Both tools use the Camelot system, where compatible keys are adjacent numbers. Vibes places every track on the wheel so the safe and creative options are visible without any theory.
