Vibes is live
For Bar and Lounge DJs

Hold the room all night.

Lounge DJ music is downtempo, groove-led music played at conversation volume: chill house, nu-disco, bossa, soul, and Balearic chill, usually mixed as one long continuous set. The job is to hold a mood for hours without pulling attention off the room, so tracks get picked for texture and steady energy instead of drops.

A long bar residency laid out in Vibes, split into doors, dinner, late bar, and last hour

Four hours, planned as moments instead of one flat playlist.

How bar and lounge DJs work in Vibes.

Step 01Bring in the files you own

Smart Import detects a rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, or Engine DJ library, an Apple Music XML, or a plain folder of files, and pulls it all into one place with BPM, key, and existing genre or grouping tags intact.

Step 02Tag by room moment

Genre folders do not tell you when a track belongs. Sort with Vibe Sort and hotkeys, or let Auto-Tagging propose, so doors, dinner, late bar, and last hour each become a vibe you can pull from on the night.

Step 03Shape the long night, then export

Set Designer sorts a crate by Energy Flow, ascending or as an arc, and Find Compatible shows the harmonic neighbours inside a BPM window. Export the result back to rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, or Engine DJ as playlists.

Your own system

Tag by moment, not by genre.

A residency is four hours of different rooms. Build vibes for doors, dinner, late bar, and last hour on top of genre, so the right feeling is one filter away instead of a scroll through folders.

Energy flow

Plan a slow climb that lasts hours.

Set Designer sorts a crate by energy, ascending, descending, or as an arc, and can sort along a key path. You see the whole shape of a night before you play it, instead of discovering it at hour three.

Where Vibes fits

Prep, not performance.

Vibes analyzes BPM, key, energy, and section markers so you know what every track does before the gig. It does not mix, record, or play out, and it works on the files you own, not on streaming: the set itself still happens in your DJ software.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

Lounge sets lean on a few reliable lineages rather than a chart. The Cafe del Mar and Buddha Bar compilations, nu-jazz and bossa in the Nicola Conte or Gotan Project vein, vocal staples like Sade and Massive Attack, and modern chill house. Searches like italian chill lounge music dj point at that same Balearic and Riviera sound, and most of it lives on compilations rather than singles.
In a club the selection is built around drops and peak-time energy: house, tech house, and big vocal edits that hold up loud. A bar is a different room for most of the night, and only the last hour or two starts to look like a club. Keep a separate late crate of familiar, higher-energy tracks and pull from it when the room asks, not on a schedule.
A crowd pleaser is a track most of the room recognizes within a few bars. In a bar that usually means a groove-led cover, an edit, or a soul and disco classic rather than the original radio version, because the recognition lands without needing volume. People who DJ lounge music well keep a handful in reserve and spend them one at a time, never back to back.
Only partly. rekordbox 7 can stream Spotify, TIDAL, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Beatport, but streaming tracks cannot be exported to a USB drive or SD card, and Spotify tracks cannot be analyzed inside rekordbox. Serato DJ Pro has no Spotify at all. For a four-hour residency, own the files. More detail: can you DJ with Spotify.
Loud enough to feel, quiet enough that two people at the bar can talk without leaning in. The working test is the conversation level in the room, not a number on the mixer. Most of the night sits well below club volume, and you buy energy by changing groove and density rather than by turning it up.
For anything with a steady four-four groove, yes: a clean blend is what stops the room noticing the change. Downtempo, bossa, and jazz tracks are usually better served by a slow fade or a clean cut on a phrase end. Knowing the BPM and key of everything in the crate beforehand makes that call quick on the night.
Build the crate by room moment rather than by genre, and give each moment more tracks than the slot actually needs so you always have a choice. Tag the ones you leaned on after the gig, rate them, and rotate them out next week. Once the library is tagged and rated, that rotation is a filter instead of a memory game. See also Latin DJs.
