Rate tracks with stars in Traktor Pro, step by step.

Traktor Pro 4 stores a 1-to-5 star rating per track inside your NML collection (as a RANKING value in the INFO tag of Collection.nml, and optionally written to the audio file's POPULARIMETER tag). You assign ratings directly in the Track Collection browser panel.

Open your Track Collection

Launch Traktor Pro 4 and make sure the browser panel is open (press B if it is hidden). Expand the Track Collection in the left panel. You should see the full track list with all metadata columns. If the collection is empty, drag your music folders in to import them first.

Enable the Rating column

Right-click any column header in the track list to open the column visibility menu. Check Rating if it is not already visible. The Rating column shows empty dots or star placeholders that fill in as you click them to assign a value.

Click the stars to rate a track

Find a track in the list and click on the Rating cell next to it. Click the first position for one star, the third for three stars, and so on up to five. The rating saves immediately into your NML collection. You can also right-click any track and choose Edit to set the star rating through the Edit dialog if inline clicking does not suit your workflow.

Filter or sort by rating

Click the Rating column header to sort your collection by star count, highest or lowest first. You can also combine a search query with a rating sort to surface your best-rated tracks within a given key or BPM range.

The catch

Rating tracks one by one in Traktor's browser is accurate but slow when you have a large library. There is no bulk-rating or keyboard shortcut to assign stars faster, though you can use the Edit dialog (right-click a track) as an alternative to clicking inline in the column.

No. Vibes is a prep and library tool, not a performance app. You rate tracks in Vibes during prep, then export those ratings into your Traktor NML. Traktor is still where you perform and where the ratings ultimately live. Vibes removes the tedium of rating everything manually inside Traktor's browser.

When you export from Vibes to Traktor, the NML is updated with the ratings from your Vibes library. If you have existing ratings in Traktor that differ, the Vibes export will overwrite them for tracks it knows about, so it is best to treat Vibes as the place you manage ratings rather than splitting the work between both apps.

Traktor Pro 4 lets you sort your collection by the Rating column and manually browse by star count, but it does not have a dedicated rating filter that isolates tracks above a certain star threshold the way a full search filter would. For that kind of filtering during prep, Vibes offers a dedicated rating filter in the All Songs view.
