Edit track info in Serato DJ.

Disconnect your Serato hardware so the software runs in offline mode, and the Analyze Files button appears above the library. Click it to process every track that has not been analyzed yet, or drag a single track, a folder or a crate onto the button to do just those. Analysis Settings controls whether Set Key and Set Beat Grid/BPM run during the pass. Full walkthrough. Serato files music into crates. Click Add Crate, name it, and drag tracks in; one track can live in as many crates as you like, and dragging a crate onto another makes it a subcrate. Add Smart Crate builds a crate from rules on fields such as BPM, Key, Genre, Grouping or Year, which only works when those tags are right. More on crates.

Double click the BPM tag for the track, delete the value, then drag the track onto the Analyze Files button so a new one is calculated. If the software keeps landing on half or double the real tempo, set the BPM Range in Analysis Settings to bracket your music before you re-analyze. While editing a BPM, alt plus the up or down arrow doubles or halves it. Beatgrids too.

The Display Mode buttons sit in the top left of the main screen: Vertical, Horizontal, Extended, Stack and Library. Library minimizes the Virtual Deck information and maximizes list space, which is the mode to use while you are correcting tags. Stack only appears with Serato DJ primary hardware connected. If the new mode has no room for your open panels, Serato closes some and says so in the status bar.

Serato does not document a single restore-defaults button. Pick a display mode again from the top left, close the panels you opened, and put Maximum Screen Updates back to its 60 Hz default in Setup, under Library + Display. The same tab holds Reset Played Tracks, which turns blue or gray played tracks back to white, and Reset Played Tracks on Exit to do that at the end of every session.

Open the Setup screen, go to the Library + Display tab, and drag the Library Text Size slider. It sets the font size for the main library and the crates area. The keyboard shortcuts control plus and control minus do the same without opening Setup. If the whole interface looks tiny on a Retina or UHD screen, enable Hi-Res Display in that same tab, then restart Serato for it to take effect.

Two usual causes. The file is read-only, which Serato marks with a locked icon in the row, and that has to be changed in Finder or File Explorer. Or you are running Serato DJ Pro 3.3.5 or older with Protect Library enabled in the Setup screen, which locks all file tags and crate names until you uncheck it. That option was removed in later versions.

Yes, for the fields that live in the file's tags: title, artist, album, genre, comment and the rest of the editable columns. Filename, length, size, bit rate and sampling are read from the file and cannot be edited at all. One caveat: edits to tracks that come from your iTunes or Apple Music library will not show up in that app until you play the track there.
