How it works.

Step 01Import the folder once

Open Import, pick a folder under File System, and choose the one your downloads land in. Vibes reads the tree first and shows every subfolder it found before anything is imported.

Step 02Keep it watched

In the preview list, switch the eye on for the folders you want watched, all of them or just a few, then run the import as normal. Nothing else about the wizard changes.

Step 03Then forget about it

New files import while Vibes is open, and every watched folder is rescanned on startup for whatever arrived while it was closed. A file mid-copy is left alone until it stops changing.

The folder is only the trigger.

A new subfolder inside a watched folder is more than a path. Vibes turns it into a vibe, nested under a category named after the folder above it, so a file that lands in Downloads, Techno, Peak Time arrives tagged Peak Time under Techno instead of unsorted.

It depends on the app you already play in. djay Pro monitors folders you add under Settings, Library, Import. Traktor can import its Music Folders every time it starts. Serato has a legacy Auto Import folder inside _Serato_ that empties into an Imported folder at the next launch. rekordbox and Engine DJ document drag and drop into the Collection and no watch folder. All of them watch files on disk; none of them can watch a streaming service.
Automatic mixing is a different job from automatic importing. djay Pro's Automix analyzes tracks and picks transition points for you. VirtualDJ runs an Automix list on a single deck so the other stays free for live mixing. rekordbox has an Automix window in Performance mode that loads a playlist onto both decks. Which one is best depends on the app you already own. Vibes does none of it: no decks, no mixing, it only prepares the library you play from.
No. Vibes points at files where they already sit on disk and never moves, renames, or rewrites the audio. A watched folder only reads: it notices new files, adds them to the library, and leaves your folder tree exactly as you arranged it. Serato's legacy Auto Import folder behaves differently, since it moves what you drop in there into an Imported folder at the next launch.
Delete a file on disk and Vibes drops the track, but only after a grace period and a later scan that still finds it gone, so a drive that blinks out briefly costs you nothing. If the whole folder is unreachable it shows as Not found, your tracks stay in the library, and a Locate folder button reconnects them. You can also pause a folder, scan on demand, or stop watching without deleting anything. Tracks you remove by hand go on an excluded list and will not re-import.

Start at the file layer: one folder tree you control, consistent names, no duplicates sitting in two places. Then tag by what a track is for, not only what genre it is, because energy and moment decide what you reach for at 1am. For the files themselves, a tag editor is the right tool: it fixes artist, title, and genre fields in bulk and renames files to a pattern you set.
