Edit beatgrids in Serato DJ, step by step.

Serato DJ lets you correct a track's beatgrid directly in the library or while it is loaded in a deck. Here is the standard workflow.

Open the beatgrid editor

Load a track into a deck in Serato DJ Pro (works in offline player or with hardware connected). Make sure Setup > DJ Preferences > Sync Mode is set to Simple Sync with Snap to Beatgrid enabled, or Smart Sync - the Edit Grid button will not appear if Sync is set to Off or if Simple Sync is used without Snap to Beatgrid checked. Click the Edit Grid button, which is located next to the time elapsed/remaining display for the track. A blue bar appears above the waveform and the Beatgrid Editor panel opens with all grid-editing controls.

Set the correct downbeat

Play or scrub to the first clear beat of the track. Click the Set button (under the Markers section of the Beatgrid Editor), or press Alt+X, or Alt+click directly on the waveform transient. This places the red Downbeat Marker at that position and anchors the entire grid from that point. Getting this first anchor right makes the rest of the grid accurate.

Correct the BPM or position if needed

If the grid drifts in tempo across the track, use the Grid Adjust buttons (or left/right arrow keys) to expand or contract the BPM until grid lines stay locked to the kick drum throughout. If the tempo is correct but the whole grid is offset, use the Grid Slip buttons (or Ctrl+left/right arrow keys) to shift the grid without changing the BPM. For tracks with genuine tempo changes, scrub to the new tempo section and press Set again to place an additional Beat Warp Marker at that transient.

Save and move to the next track

Click the Save button in the Beatgrid Editor, or press Enter/Return, to write the corrected grid and exit edit mode. Pressing Esc or clicking the Edit Grid button again exits without saving all changes. The corrected grid persists across Serato sessions. Repeat for each track that needs attention.

The catch

Serato has no batch analysis view that surfaces which tracks actually have bad grids, so you end up checking tracks one at a time and may spend time on tracks that were already fine.

No. Vibes is a prep and library tool, not a performance mixer. It analyzes BPM and flags problem tracks across your whole library so you know what to fix, but you still make the final manual corrections inside Serato DJ's own beatgrid editor. When the tempo is in doubt and you want a second opinion that owes nothing to Serato DJ's analysis, tap it out and compare the two numbers.
No. Vibes keeps its BPM and beat analysis internally and exports crates to Serato, nothing else. A .crate file cannot carry a beatgrid, so the grids Serato saved are untouched. Serato keeps beatgrid data in the file's meta tags, not in a separate database, so a grid you fix there stays fixed unless you re-analyze the track with Analyze BPM / Beatgrid checked.
Vibes uses downbeat-locked detection during analysis. If the detected BPM or downbeat position differs significantly from what would produce a clean lock across the track, it surfaces the track so you can prioritize it for manual correction in Serato. It is a shortlist, not an automatic fix.
Yes. Serato's Offline Player lets you analyze tracks and edit grids with nothing plugged in. Load the track onto the deck, click Edit Grid next to the time elapsed / remaining display, set the downbeat marker, then use Grid Slip or Grid Adjust and save. Check Setup first though: the Edit Grid button only shows when Sync Mode under Setup > DJ Preferences is Smart Sync, or Simple Sync with Snap to Beatgrid checked.
Analyze it first. Select the track, right-click and choose Analyze Files (older builds: drag it onto the Analyze Files button) with Analyze BPM / Beatgrid checked in Analysis Settings, and Serato creates its BPM and grid. If a track shows a BPM but no grid lines, check the Sync Mode setting first, then re-analyze. Once a grid exists, load it, open Edit Grid, set the downbeat marker on the first strong beat, then use Grid Adjust or Grid Slip until the lines sit on the kick, then save.
