Serato DJ Pro does not include a native duplicate-detection tool. To surface duplicate files you must either sort your library manually by title or location, use File > Library > Show Duplicate Items in Apple Music (or iTunes) if your collection is managed there, or use a third-party tool such as dupeGuru. The steps below cover the manual in-app workflow for identifying and removing tracks you know to be duplicates, plus the cleanup steps once duplicates are confirmed.
Open the Files panel and rescan your library
Launch Serato DJ Pro and make sure all drives and folders containing your music are connected and visible. Click the Files button next to the search bar to open the Files panel and browse your connected drives. To force Serato to re-read every file's tags, click Re-scan File Info in the Files panel (older versions label it Rescan ID3 Tags), or drag a selection of tracks onto that button to rescan only those files. Serato can only surface tracks it currently has indexed.
Sort by location to surface potential duplicates
In the main library view, click the Location column header to sort all tracks by file path. If Location is not visible, right-click any column header and switch it on. Tracks stored in multiple folders or with identical metadata will cluster together, making duplicate candidates visible. You can also sort by the Song column (the track title), then hold Ctrl on Windows or Cmd on Mac and click the Location header to add it as a secondary sort, so files with the same name in different directories sit next to each other. There is no automatic 'Show Duplicates' scan in Serato DJ Pro; this manual sort is the closest native method.
Review each duplicate candidate before acting
Check the file path, bitrate, and format for each candidate pair before deleting anything. Prefer the higher-bitrate file or the copy stored in your primary music folder. Be cautious: Serato has no metadata-match engine, so two tracks with the same title can be legitimately different edits. For a more thorough scan, use a third-party tool such as dupeGuru on your music folder before returning to Serato.
Remove the unwanted copy and re-analyze if needed
Select the copy you want gone in the All crate and remove it from the library with Ctrl+Delete on Windows or Cmd+Delete on Mac; that unlinks the entry and leaves the audio file on disk. Inside any other crate that shortcut only removes the track from that crate, so use Alt+Delete on Windows or Option+Delete on Mac to remove it from the whole library. To also delete the source file, use Ctrl+Shift+Delete on Windows or Cmd+Shift+Delete on Mac, which removes the track from the library and sends the file to the Recycle Bin or Trash in one step. On Serato DJ Pro 3.3.5 or older, Protect Library must be off in Setup under Library + Display first; newer versions no longer have that setting. After cleanup, run Analyze Files on the tracks you kept so BPM, key, and waveform data is complete across your refreshed library.
The catch
Serato DJ Pro has no native duplicate detection engine. The manual sort-by-location method surfaces obvious duplicates but will miss files with slightly different names, tags, or encoding settings. For a thorough cleanup, use a third-party duplicate finder such as dupeGuru on your music folder before working in Serato, then remove confirmed duplicates from the library as described above.
