The honest guide to beaTunes alternatives.
beaTunes does three jobs at once: it analyzes tempo, key, color, and song segments, spellchecks messy tags, and builds match-based playlists on macOS and Windows. No single beatunes alternative covers all three, so pick by the job that is actually costing you time: library conversion and cleanup, harmonic analysis that lands in your DJ software, or free tagging and playback.

Analysis, cleanup, playlists: three jobs, rarely one tool.
The alternatives, compared.
beaTunes 5 runs on macOS and Windows as a one-time purchase, with a two-week trial that finds tag issues but does not let you apply the one-click fixes. It analyzes tempo, key, color, segments, and loudness, inspects your library for misspelled artists, duplicates, and artwork that was never embedded, and builds matchlists from seed songs. The five options below split that work up. One of them, Vibes, is ours.
| Option | Strengths | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| LexiconBest for One managed library that syncs to every DJ app |
|
|
Our verdict The closest thing to a full replacement for a DJ. It covers the inspection job beaTunes does and adds real conversion between rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, VirtualDJ, Engine DJ, and djay Pro, which beaTunes never had. | ||
| Mixed In KeyBest for Key and energy analysis handed straight to a DJ app |
|
|
Our verdict The analysis half of beaTunes, aimed squarely at DJs: key, energy, and cue points that land in Traktor, Serato, and rekordbox. It will not tidy the library itself, so pair it with something that does. | ||
| MusicBrainz PicardBest for Free tag cleanup and consistent file naming |
|
|
| MixxxBest for A free app that analyzes, holds the library, and plays |
|
|
Our verdict The free option that covers the analyze-and-play side of beaTunes at no cost. It is the name DJ forums keep repeating for a reason, but it will not clean your tags for you. | ||
|
| |
Our verdict Closest to beaTunes on tagging and analysis, and further along on export: playlists and vibes land in your DJ app's own library, optionally as a folder tree split by Camelot key or BPM, instead of as a loose M3U file. | ||

How we compared.
We started from what beaTunes says it does. On the analyze side it reads tempo, key, color, segments, similarities, loudness, and acoustic fingerprints out of the audio, and it can embed the key as ID3 TKEY or Open Key Notation so other programs can read it. On the inspect side it works like a spellchecker for tags: it flags one artist spelled three ways, wrong genres, duplicates, missing files, and artwork that is not embedded, then offers one-click fixes. A tool only counts here if it covers one of those two halves properly.
The second test was where the results end up. beaTunes writes its computed values into your files, and playlists leave by right-clicking a list and choosing a format, which for Traktor means M3U rather than M3U8. That is fine if your DJ app reads tags and M3U files. It is a detour if you want playlists, ratings, and analysis sitting inside rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, or Engine DJ, and it is the single most common reason DJs go looking for something else.
Prices, editions, and features were checked on each vendor's own site in August 2026, not taken from review roundups. Where a vendor does not publish a price outside its checkout, the table says so rather than guessing. We make Vibes, so treat its row as the biased one and use the trial.
How to judge a replacement.
Name the half you need
beaTunes bundles three jobs: analysis, tag inspection, and playlist building. Almost every alternative does one or two of them properly. Decide which one is costing you time before you shop.
Where the results land
beaTunes writes computed values into your files and exports playlists as M3U. Tools built for DJs write into rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, or Engine DJ directly, which removes an import step before every gig.
How it handles the mess
Duplicates, one artist spelled three ways, artwork that was never embedded. Ask whether the tool finds those, and whether it fixes them in bulk or one file at a time.
Free, one-time, or monthly
The options here split cleanly into open source, a one-time license, and a subscription. A library tool is something you keep for years, so the model matters more than the first payment.
One organized library, every app.
Vibes imports from and exports to Rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, and Engine DJ, so the software you pick is never a lock-in.

Methodology
How we keep this honest.
Verified against the source
Every claim about each app is checked against its official site and current pricing.
We own our bias
We make Vibes, a library tool, not DJ mixing software. The picks above are independent, and we recommend the app that fits you, not the one paired with us.
Live pricing
The Vibes price shown comes straight from our checkout, never a hardcoded marketing number.
