Vibes is live
How to · djay Pro

Use Spotify with djay Pro.

Yes, Spotify works inside djay again: you need Spotify Premium, djay 5.6 or later, and one of the 51 markets where the integration launched in September 2025. Log in from djay's music library and the full catalog loads onto the decks, but Neural Mix, recording, Spotify's offline mode and lossless playback stay switched off.

The Vibes library table with BPM, key and vibe columns for locally owned files

Vibes organizes the files you own; the streamed catalog stays inside djay.

Use Spotify in djay Pro, step by step.

The djay Pro Spotify integration returned in September 2025 after five years away. It is a login, not a download: the tracks stream, so nothing lands on your drive.

01

Check the requirements first

You need an active Spotify Premium account and djay version 5.6 or later. Algoriddim lists the minimums as iOS 15, iPadOS 15, Android 10, macOS 10.15 and Windows 10 version 21H1. Spotify launched the DJ software integration in 51 markets, so the source only appears if your account sits in one of them.

02

Open the music library and find the Spotify source

Open djay and look at the music library. Connected streaming services appear in the sidebar next to My Collection and djay Music, alongside Apple Music, TIDAL, SoundCloud and Beatport. Select Spotify in that list. Until you sign in, the source shows a login prompt instead of any tracks.

03

Log in to your Premium account

Select Log in to Spotify on the source and authorize djay with your Premium credentials. On a Mac you can also use the Library menu, or Preferences and the Library tab; on Windows the three-line menu and Library; on iOS the cog icon and Library; on Android the Algoriddim logo, Settings and Library. The same tabs are where you log back out.

04

Browse, search and load the decks

Once you are signed in you get the full Spotify catalog, Your Library and Spotify's editorial picks. Search the whole catalog on the fly, filter by BPM and key, and drag a track onto a deck. djay loads up to four tracks at once, and you can create and reorder Spotify playlists inside the app.

05

Mix, and add hardware or Automix

Mixer, filters, effects, cue points and looping all work on streamed tracks, including in the free version of djay. Algoriddim lists over 100 plug and play controllers, mixers, audio interfaces and CDJs. djay Pro AI Spotify features such as Automix, which beat matches a playlist for you, come with the djay Pro subscription.

06

Know what is switched off

Some things stop working when you use djay Pro with Spotify tracks. Algoriddim lists Neural Mix, recording, Analyze Library and Match as unavailable, and on the Spotify side offline mode and lossless playback are off. Everything you play has to stream live, so a stable connection is part of the setup.

The catch

Streamed tracks are licensed, not owned. Nothing you play from Spotify can be exported to a USB stick, backed up or opened in another app, and if a track leaves the catalog or the deal changes, it leaves your playlists with it.

Where Vibes fits

Stream for discovery, own the files you build sets on.

Vibes has no Spotify import and no streaming playback: it works on the files you own. Where it helps is the other half of your library, the tracks that are already on your drive. Import them from rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, Engine DJ, an Apple Music XML or a plain folder, analyze and tag them, then export playlists back to your DJ app.

See how it works
Smart Import auto-detects a rekordbox, Serato, Traktor or Engine DJ library, or point the Import Wizard at a folder
Analysis gives every owned file BPM, Camelot key, an energy curve and section markers
Find Compatible surfaces harmonic neighbours inside a BPM window, half and double time aware
Export playlists and vibes back to your DJ app, with optional key or BPM sub-folders

Organize in Vibes, export to djay Pro.

Your playlists, tags, ratings, and cue points travel back to the gear you play on, so nothing you do in Vibes is locked away.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

Yes. Since September 2025 you can log a Spotify Premium account into djay and mix the full catalog, your own playlists and Spotify's editorial picks. It needs djay 5.6 or later and a supported country: Spotify launched the DJ software integration in 51 markets. djay Pro and Spotify are billed separately, so a lapsed Premium subscription stops playback.
Three do. Spotify's DJ software integration covers rekordbox, Serato and djay, each with a Premium account. In djay the free version still gives you the mixer, filters, effects, cue points and looping on streamed tracks, while Automix and hardware need the djay Pro subscription. The same setup in rekordbox and Serato, and what DJing from Spotify actually allows.
Mixing through the official integration with a paid Premium account is the intended use, and that is why the partnership exists. Playing to a paying crowd is a separate question, because public performance licensing normally sits with the venue or the promoter rather than with you. There is no legal djay Pro Spotify hack around any of it: the audio is protected, so it cannot be exported or bounced to a file.
Not automatically. A DJ can play what the venue is licensed for, and that public performance license is normally handled by the venue or the promoter through the local collecting societies. On top of that, every streaming service sets its own rules for how its catalog may be used. Owning the files removes the streaming layer, but it does not remove the performance license.
Work through Algoriddim's list in order. Check that the connection is stable, fully close and reopen djay, then open Settings, Library and log out of Spotify and back in, which refreshes the authentication between the two accounts. Update djay to the latest version, confirm your Premium subscription is active, and check whether Spotify itself is down. Posts about djay Pro 2 Spotify not working date from the 2020 shutdown and no longer apply.
No. djay Pro Spotify offline playback does not exist: Spotify's offline mode and lossless playback are both switched off inside djay, so every streamed track needs a live connection while you play. Plan for weak venue Wi-Fi. If the booth has no reliable internet, play files you own from your own drive and keep the streamed catalog for practice at home.
Yes. Desktop came first in September 2025 and mobile followed in December, so djay Pro Spotify Android and iPhone users now use the same Premium login as desktop. djay Pro iPad Spotify playback needs iPadOS 15 or later and Android needs version 10 or later, while djay Pro Spotify Mac and Windows users need macOS 10.15, or Windows 10 version 21H1, or later.
Spotify pulled its catalog out of third party DJ apps in 2020, and the Spotify djay Pro integration was switched off with it. That is why so much of what turns up in djay Pro Spotify Reddit threads, or in any djay Pro Spotify 2022 guide, describes a feature that did not exist at the time. Treat anything written between 2020 and 2025 as history.
No. djay Pro Spotify stems are not possible, because djay Pro Neural Mix Spotify support is blocked by licensing: stem separation runs on files you own. You also cannot record djay Pro Spotify sets, and Algoriddim lists Analyze Library and Match as unavailable for streamed tracks. Cue points, loops, effects and hardware control all still work.
