Using My Tag in Rekordbox.

My Tag is Rekordbox's built-in tagging panel. It ships with 4 preset category slots (Genre, Components, Situation, and one blank) and lets you rename those slots and fill each with up to 50 custom tags to match how you think about music. You cannot add additional categories beyond the 4 provided.

Open the My Tag panel

Click the My Tag icon on the right side of the browser to reveal the tag pane next to the track list. You can also go to View > Show My Tag.

Design your categories

Rekordbox gives you exactly 4 category slots: Genre, Components, Situation, and one blank. Rename any slot and add the specific tags you want under each, up to 50 tags per category. You cannot add new categories beyond these 4 slots.

Apply tags as you listen

Select a track and click the tags that fit. Tags are saved to Rekordbox's library database (not written into the audio file itself). When you export to USB, your My Tag data travels with the export so you can filter by tags on CDJs and XDJs.

Feed Intelligent Playlists

Once tracks are tagged, build an Intelligent Playlist with My Tag rules so a playlist like Peak plus Vocal maintains itself automatically.

The catch

My Tag is powerful but slow: you are constrained to 4 categories total, you design the full taxonomy within those slots yourself, and you apply every tag by hand, one track at a time, across the entire library.

Auto-tag learns from vibes you picked. For newer vibes, it can still make a name-based guess.

My Tag is Rekordbox's built-in system for labeling tracks with custom keywords that go beyond genre, BPM, and key. It opens as the My Tag configuration window on the right side of the screen, grouped into categories such as Genre and Components, and you can rename any category and add your own tags. Once tracks are tagged, you can narrow the browser with the Track Filter, use tags in Intelligent Playlist conditions, and filter by tag on compatible players after a USB export.
Yes. My Tag data is part of your Rekordbox library and travels with a USB export. On players with Track Filter, such as the CDJ-3000 and XDJ-RX3, you can narrow the USB library by tag information added in Rekordbox, not just inside Rekordbox on your laptop. Tag before you export, or sync the device afterwards, since tags added later only reach the drive when it is exported or synced again.
My Tag is fully manual. Vibes proposes tags from the audio itself and learns your preferences, so most of the tagging is done for you, then exports into Rekordbox so My Tag-style filtering still works in the booth. The analysis runs on your own machine, and the suggestions get sharper the more you correct them, so the first pass over a big library speeds up as you go.
Yes. Vibes lets you build unlimited categories and vibes, just like My Tag categories, but with AI suggestions and faster bulk tagging. Rekordbox lets you rename its My Tag categories and add tags inside them, so a system with more dimensions than those categories has to be squeezed into them. In Vibes you keep the structure you actually think in, then export the result back into Rekordbox for the booth.
