Rate tracks with stars in Rekordbox, step by step.

Rekordbox 7 lets you assign one-to-five star ratings to any track directly in the browser. Here is how to set them and make them work for filtering.

01

Open your track browser

Launch Rekordbox and switch to the Collection view in the left sidebar. Make sure the Rating column is visible in your track list. If it is not showing, right-click any column header and enable Rating from the column picker.

02

Assign a star rating

Click directly on the Rating cell for any track and click the number of stars you want to assign, from one to five. You can also right-click a track, choose Track Information, and set the rating in the detail panel. Either method writes the rating to your local Rekordbox database immediately.

03

Rate multiple tracks at once

Select a group of tracks using Shift-click or Command-click (Ctrl-click on Windows), then right-click the selection and choose Track Information to open the detail panel. Set the rating there and it applies to all selected tracks. This is useful for bulk-rating an import batch after analysis.

04

Filter your library by rating

Use the Track Filter panel or intelligent playlist conditions to surface tracks by rating tier. The Track Filter bar lets you click a star threshold to show only tracks at or above that rating. In an intelligent playlist, set the condition criterion to Rating, choose the > or = comparison operator, and enter your chosen threshold to build a crate of only your top-rated material.

The catch

Rekordbox ratings live only inside your local database, so if you manage prep across multiple machines or apps you have to manually keep ratings in sync yourself. Ratings set directly on Pioneer CDJ or XDJ players during a gig also do not automatically sync back to Rekordbox.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

Not entirely. Vibes is a prep and library app, not a performance tool. You set ratings in Vibes during prep, and Vibes exports them into Rekordbox so they appear there when you perform. Rekordbox is still your performance environment.
When you export from Vibes with the Ratings toggle enabled, Vibes writes its rating values into Rekordbox for every track in the export. If you have ratings set in Rekordbox that differ, Vibes will overwrite them, so treat Vibes as your source of truth for ratings when using the export.
Yes. The All Songs view in Vibes includes a rating filter you can combine with vibe tags, BPM range, and Camelot key filters to narrow down your library during prep sessions.
