Traktor detects key during track analysis and shows it in the Key column of the Browser. Here is how to sort by key in Traktor, keep that order after a restart, and stack a BPM sort underneath it.
Analyze your tracks so every one has a key
Traktor detects key during analysis, so an unanalyzed track has nothing to sort on. Right-click a track or a selection in the Track List, or a whole Playlist in the Browser Tree, and select Analyze (Async). Choose Special, tick Key, then click OK. Tracks with Analysis Lock keep their existing values unless you also tick Replace Locked Values.
Pick the key notation before you sort
Open Preferences and go to the Analyze Options page. Under Musical Key, the Displayed in Traktor drop-down decides what the Key column shows: Musical, Musical (all sharps) or Open Key. Open Key labels a key with a wheel number instead of a note name, which is why harmonic DJs tend to pick it. Written to File Tags is a separate setting and also offers Key Text.
Click the Key column header in the Track List
Select the Playlist or folder in the Browser Tree, then click the name of the Key column header. The Track List sorts by that category, and a second click inverts the order. Clicking the header of the #-column takes you back to the playlist's original track order at any time. Nothing has been written to the playlist yet.
Consolidate so the order survives a restart
After restarting Traktor, all playlists reset to their original track order, so the key sort you just made is gone. To keep it, right-click the Playlist in the Browser Tree to open the context menu and select Consolidate. That makes the categorized track sorting permanent. Duplicate the playlist first if it already holds a running order you set by hand.
Stack a BPM sort under the key sort
Traktor sorts on one column at a time. The method Traktor DJs use is two passes: click the BPM header, right-click the playlist and select Consolidate, then click the Key header. Tempo order then sits inside each key group. Native Instruments does not document that tie-break behavior, so check the result yourself before you rely on it in a set.
Let Key Lock color the matches while you play
Sorting groups the library, Key Lock finds the match live. Click the Key Lock button in the Stripe on the Master deck and the Browser highlights tracks with a matching key in color in the Key column. Preferences > Browser Details > Key Highlighting controls this: only color matching keys is the default, and you can also color adjacent keys or all keys.
The catch
A column sort is a view, and Consolidate is the only thing that keeps it. Consolidate replaces that playlist's original track order, so a running order you built by hand does not survive it. The sort is also only as good as the analysis: one wrongly detected key drops a track into the wrong group, and you will not notice until you are mixing.
