A DJ library organized in Vibes with BPM, key, and vibe tags intact after moving from Serato DJ to Engine DJ

Bring your collection across without losing your work.

Switching from Serato DJ to Engine DJ, or running both, means moving your collection without losing the cues, grids, and tags you have built up. Engine DJ imports Serato natively; Serato's newer track ratings do not carry.

What transfers from Serato DJ to Engine DJ.

CapabilityCarriesWhat happens
Audio filesYour tracks move with the library and the files are never modified.
Playlists & cratesFolders and playlists are rebuilt in Engine DJ.
Key & BPMAnalyzed values carry across, or are re-analyzed cleanly and accurately.
Hot cuesCues carry; on the native Rekordbox import some users report cue and grid offsets, which a clean tool avoids.
BeatgridsBeatgrids carry so your tracks stay locked in time.
Star ratingsStar ratings carry into Engine DJ.
Comments & tagsComments carry; Engine has no custom-tag field, so they live in comments.

Using a metadata-aware library tool. A manual drag-and-drop rebuild loses everything except the audio files. Engine DJ imports Serato natively; Serato's newer track ratings do not carry.

Moving from Serato DJ to Engine DJ, step by step.

Good news that our own earlier guidance understated: Engine DJ Desktop imports Serato libraries natively, documented in Engine's own knowledge base and wrapped in the Import Assistant since Engine DJ 5.0.

01

Open the Serato import in Engine DJ

In Engine DJ Desktop, use the Import Assistant, or enable Serato in the preferences under Integration, click the Serato logo in the playlists sidebar, and hit Update to scan your crates.

02

Import your playlists

Right-click any crate and choose Import as Playlist. Music, playlists, hot cues, and loops come across per Engine's own documentation, with crates arriving as Engine playlists.

03

Check what arrived

Check ratings and smart crates specifically: Engine states it does not import Serato's newer track ratings, and rule-based crates are not documented, so verify what you rely on and rebuild the rest.

04

Load a drive with Sync Manager

Use Sync Manager to push the imported playlists to a USB drive or SD card for your standalone hardware, then spot-check a few tracks on the player itself before a gig.

Two rebuild items survive the native path: Serato track ratings introduced in Serato 4.0 are officially not imported, and smart crate handling is undocumented, so treat rule-based crates as manual rebuilds inside Engine.

The cleaner path

One library, every app.

Vibes imports your Serato DJ library and exports it straight into Engine DJ, keeping playlists, tags, ratings, and cue points intact, so the move does not mean starting over. Keep one organized library and send it wherever you play.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

Yes. Enable Serato under Engine DJ's Integration preferences, update the scan, and use Import as Playlist on your crates, or let the Import Assistant in Engine DJ 5.0 walk you through it. Music, playlists, hot cues, and loops carry across.
No. Engine DJ states it does not import the track ratings Serato introduced in version 4.0. If ratings drive your crate prep, encode the top tier into a playlist before migrating so the information survives the move in another form.
Undocumented, so assume a rebuild. Static crates arrive as playlists; rule-based smart crates have no documented Engine import path. Recreate the rules with Engine's own smartlist features once your tracks and static playlists are across.
