How to ยท Traktor Pro

Filter tracks by BPM range in Traktor Pro.

Traktor Pro lets you sort and search your collection by BPM, but building and saving BPM-filtered playlists takes manual effort. Vibes exports ready-made BPM-range subfolders straight into your NML so the work is already done before you open Traktor.

Vibes app showing BPM and key analysis for a DJ library

Vibes analyzes BPM and key for every track, then exports BPM-range playlists into Traktor Pro.

Filter tracks by BPM range in Traktor Pro, step by step.

Traktor Pro 4.x gives you two native ways to work with BPM ranges. The first is sorting the Track Collection by BPM column and using the search bar to narrow by a specific tempo value. The second, and more powerful, method is Smartlists: dynamic playlists you define with BPM conditions such as 'greater than 124' and 'less than 128' that auto-populate from your full collection.

01

Open your Track Collection

In Traktor Pro, open the browser section and select Track Collection in the Browser Tree on the left side. This shows your full imported library as a sortable track list.

02

Sort by BPM

Click the BPM column header in the track list to sort ascending or descending. Shift-click a second column header to apply a secondary sort (for example, BPM within a Key sort). This groups tracks by tempo for visual scanning but does not lock the view to a specific range.

03

Create a Smartlist for a BPM range

Right-click the Playlists node in the Browser Tree and choose Create Smartlist. Name the Smartlist (for example, 124-128 BPM). In the Smartlist editor, add two BPM conditions: BPM 'greater than' 124 and BPM 'less than' 128, matching all conditions. The Smartlist auto-populates from your entire collection and updates automatically as you add tracks.

04

Use the search bar for a quick spot-check

Type a BPM value into the search field at the top of the browser to filter tracks matching that exact tempo. Note that the search bar returns exact text matches on BPM, not a range, so it is best for confirming a specific tempo rather than capturing a spread. For ongoing BPM-range curation, the Smartlist method from Step 3 is more reliable.

The catch

Traktor Pro 4 does have a native BPM range filter via Smartlists, which use 'greater than' and 'less than' numeric conditions and auto-populate dynamically. The search bar in the browser returns exact BPM text matches only and does not support a min/max range input directly, so use Smartlists for range-based filtering and the search bar only for quick single-tempo lookups.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

No. Vibes is a library prep and export tool, not a performance mixer. It builds and exports the BPM-range playlists into your NML before your session. You still open Traktor Pro to perform and the BPM-filtered playlists are already there waiting for you.
When you export from Vibes, you can enable BPM-range subdivision in the export settings. Vibes writes a named subfolder for each BPM band (for example, 120-124, 124-128) directly into your Traktor NML file alongside your vibe-based crates and Combinations.
Yes. The All Songs view in Vibes stacks filters: set a BPM range, select a Camelot key, and add vibe or folder filters on top. The track list updates immediately, and you can export the resulting selection as a playlist into Traktor.
