Export played history in Rekordbox.

Rekordbox logs every track you play for a minute or more and files each session under [Histories] as [HISTORY yyyy-mm-dd]. Right-click that history to copy it into a playlist, then right-click the playlist and choose [Export a playlist to a file] to save it as a .txt tracklist or an .m3u8 other music apps can open.

Export played history in Rekordbox, step by step.

The rekordbox export history playlist job is really two small jobs: turn a session log into a real playlist, then write that playlist out to a file. Both live in EXPORT mode, and both take seconds once you know where the [Histories] folder is.

Open the Histories folder in EXPORT mode

Switch Rekordbox to EXPORT mode, then look at the Media Browser tree on the left and double-click [Histories]. Your sessions are filed into year and month folders. A set played in PERFORMANCE mode shows up as [HISTORY yyyy-mm-dd], and a set played over PRO DJ LINK shows up as [LINK HISTORY yyyy-mm-dd].

Pull the session off your USB drive first

If you played from a drive on club players, connect it to your computer while Rekordbox is in EXPORT mode. The play history is saved into [Histories] automatically when [Preferences] > [DJ System] > [Device] > [History] > [Import the play history automatically] is on. To do it by hand, open [Devices], expand the [Histories] folder on the drive, right-click the session and select [Import History].

Select the date and check what was logged

Click the history for the night you want and the track list shows what played, in the order it played. Only tracks that ran for a minute or more are logged. Tracks exported from another Rekordbox, or tracks you have since removed from your [Collection], are excluded, so a history can be shorter than the set you remember playing.

Copy the history into a playlist

A history is a log, not a playlist, so make a playlist out of it before you export anything. Right-click the history and use the option to copy it to a playlist. Rekordbox creates an ordinary playlist under [Playlists] holding the same tracks in the same order, which you can rename, trim, and reorder like any other playlist.

Export the playlist to a file

Right-click the new playlist and select [Export a playlist to a file]. Rekordbox offers [Export a playlist to a file (*.txt)] for a plain tracklist you can paste into a post or send to a promoter, and [Export a playlist to a file for music apps (*.m3u8)] for a playlist file other music apps can open. Pick a format, choose where to save it, and confirm.

Or send the same set to a drive or another computer

To carry the set to a gig rather than to a text file, select the playlist and use [Export Playlist] to write it to a connected USB storage device. To move it to another machine, export it to a drive, plug the drive into that computer, then right-click the playlist or folder under [Devices] and select [Import Playlist] or [Import Folder].

The catch

Importing play histories only works in EXPORT mode. Connect the drive while Rekordbox sits in PERFORMANCE mode and the [Import History] item stays greyed out. Rekordbox also deletes the history from the drive once it has imported it, unless you turn off [Delete from the device after importing the play history] in [Preferences] > [DJ System] > [Device] > [History].

Open the Media Browser tree and double-click [Histories]. Rekordbox files your sessions into year and month folders, and names each one [HISTORY yyyy-mm-dd], or [LINK HISTORY yyyy-mm-dd] for a set played over PRO DJ LINK. Click a date and the track list shows what played and in what order. Only tracks that ran for a minute or more are logged, so short test loads never appear.
Two things usually block it. [Export a playlist to a file] sits on the right-click menu of a playlist, not of a history, so copy the history into a playlist first and the option appears. And [Export Playlist] writes to a device, so it needs a USB drive that Rekordbox can see under [Devices] in EXPORT mode, connected and writable. The full USB export steps cover the drive side.
Not as files on your disk. Playlists live inside the Rekordbox library database on your computer, together with your [Collection], your analysis data, and your cues, which is why hunting for a playlist file in Finder or Explorer turns up nothing. To get a copy outside Rekordbox, export the playlist as .txt or .m3u8, or use [File] > [Library] > [Backup Library], which saves the whole database and can be restored on another computer.
Restore it from a library backup. Go to [File] > [Library] > [Restore Library] and choose the backup file. That brings back the database, including [Collection] and [Playlists], along with analysis information and music files. Each backup carries the date it was made, so pick one from before the playlist disappeared. Without a backup there is no undo inside Rekordbox, which is why a backup routine matters before any big cleanup.
If what you lost was a set you played from a USB drive, the session may still be on the drive. Connect it in EXPORT mode, open [Devices], expand the [Histories] folder on the drive, right-click the session and choose [Import History]. Rekordbox deletes the history from the drive after importing it by default, so check the drive before you plug it into anything else and overwrite it.
Look for a copy outside the database. A playlist you exported to a drive can be pulled back in: right-click it under [Devices] and select [Import Playlist] or [Import Folder]. A playlist you saved for music apps comes back through [File] > [Import] > [Import Playlist], which accepts M3U, M3U8, and PLS files. A .txt tracklist is readable but cannot be imported, so treat it as a record, not a rescue.
They sit in the tree view under [Playlists] in the Media Browser, inside whatever folders you filed them in. Histories are kept separately under [Histories] and are not playlists until you copy one across. If a playlist you expect is missing from the tree, check [Playlist display setting] on its right-click menu, which controls whether a playlist appears in the tree while Cloud Library Sync is on.
Because Rekordbox is in PERFORMANCE mode. AlphaTheta states that importing play histories is limited to EXPORT mode, so the [Import History] item on the context menu stays greyed out until you switch. The automatic import follows the same rule: a drive connected in PERFORMANCE mode has its play histories skipped. Switch to EXPORT mode, open [Devices], and the option becomes available again.
Not the history log itself. Vibes imports your Rekordbox library, and playlists come in intact, so copy the history into a playlist in Rekordbox first and it arrives with the rest. From there Set Designer rebuilds the order and exports it back as a playlist. Get Vibes if you want that loop. The same task in other apps: Traktor and Engine DJ.
