How to ยท Traktor

Auto-tag your tracks in Traktor.

Traktor stores your library well but has no built-in mood or energy tagging. Vibes fills that gap with on-device AI that learns your taste and exports labeled playlists directly into your NML collection.

Vibe Sort in Vibes: tag tracks by feel at speed, one key press at a time.

Auto-tag your tracks in Traktor, step by step.

Traktor does not have a built-in tagging system for mood or energy, but you can use its comment and label color fields as a manual workaround. The process is repetitive and does not scale, but here is how most DJs approach it.

01

Open your collection in Traktor

Launch Traktor and switch to the Browser panel. Your imported tracks appear in the Track Collection. Make sure all tracks you want to tag have been analyzed so BPM and key data are available alongside the files.

02

Use the Comment or Color field as a tag

Right-click any track and choose Edit from the context menu to open the Edit Dialog, or click directly into the Comment or Color field in the track list to use inline editing. Type your energy or mood descriptor (for example, 'peak time' or 'warm up') into the Comment field. For visual color-coding, assign one of the available colors via the Color column. Traktor has no dedicated tag or category system beyond these free-text fields and a single color column per track.

03

Filter or search by your comment text

Use the search bar at the top of the Browser and type your tag keyword to surface all tracks with that comment. Click the magnifying glass icon in the search bar to reveal a dropdown that lets you narrow the search to a specific field such as Comment. You can also create a playlist manually and drag in the results.

04

Save playlists per tag and repeat

Create a new playlist for each energy level or mood, drag the filtered tracks in, and save. Repeat this for every tag across your entire collection. There is no automation: every track must be labeled and placed by hand.

The catch

Traktor has no AI or batch-tagging capability, so every label is entered manually and the process does not get smarter as your library grows.

The faster way

On-device AI that learns how you tag, then pushes playlists into Traktor for you.

Vibes imports your Traktor NML collection, lets you build your own vibe vocabulary, and trains a private on-device model on your tagging. The AI suggests vibes for every untagged track, and when you export, Vibes writes labeled playlists directly back into your NML file.

See how it works
On-device CLAP audio embeddings analyze tracks privately, with no audio or metadata sent to any server
The Auto-Tag model trains on your own tag history, so suggestions match your taste rather than a generic preset
Tag hundreds of tracks fast in Vibe Sort using keyboard shortcuts, then let the AI fill in the rest
Export writes vibe playlists straight into your Traktor NML collection so every tag is ready to use at your next session

Organize in Vibes, export to Traktor.

Your playlists, tags, ratings, and cue points travel back to the gear you play on, so nothing you do in Vibes is locked away.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

Vibes handles the library prep and organization side: import, tag, and export back into Traktor. You still perform and mix in Traktor. Vibes is a prep tool that makes your Traktor collection smarter before you play, not a replacement for the DJ software itself.
Vibes exports vibes as playlists inside your NML file rather than writing into the Comment field. Your existing Traktor comments stay untouched. You can optionally enable a Vibes-as-Comments export toggle if you want the tag text to appear in the Comment field as well.
The model trains on your own tagging history, so it gets more accurate as you label more tracks. With a smaller library you can still use Vibe Sort to tag manually at speed, and the AI suggestions improve incrementally as your labeled set grows.
