PRO DJ LINK

Pioneer DJ's Ethernet protocol for sharing track data, waveforms, and sync between linked CDJs.

PRO DJ LINK is a proprietary networking protocol from Pioneer DJ that connects CDJs and DJM mixers over a standard Ethernet switch, allowing units to share track metadata, waveforms, cue points, and beat sync information in real time. A Rekordbox-connected laptop can also join the link to stream tracks directly to the players.

Why it matters

On a linked setup, all players display the same waveform and beatgrid data, enabling the sync button, quantized cue points, and real-time BPM sharing across decks. It also allows a laptop export to be broadcast live rather than pre-written to USB.

Frequently asked questions

It allows linked Pioneer CDJs and DJM mixers to share track metadata, full waveforms, album art, BPM, and beat grid data over a local Ethernet network. It also enables the sync feature across decks and lets a single USB drive serve the entire setup so you do not need a drive in every player.
For two devices you can link them directly with a single Ethernet cable. For three or more devices you need an unmanaged network switch. A router is not required since PRO DJ LINK is a local network protocol, not internet-dependent.
Natively, no. PRO DJ LINK is a proprietary Pioneer DJ protocol. Some third-party software and hardware have reverse-engineered partial compatibility, but full waveform sharing, sync, and metadata display generally work reliably only within Pioneer's own CDJ and DJM ecosystem.

Hey, it's Ben Modigell ๐Ÿ‘‹

I DJ and produce as so I so โ€” downtempo, minimal, dub house, tech house, and techno (releases on Spotify and SoundCloud, links above). Everything I write here comes from my own gigs, studio sessions, and library cleanups: the rules I follow, the failure modes I've actually hit, and the workflow I use when nobody's watching. If a technique didn't earn its place in my own sets, it doesn't make it into a tutorial.
