A DJ library backup has two halves: the music files themselves, and the database your app keeps of cues, crates, beatgrids, and ratings. Rekordbox and Engine DJ have a built-in backup command, Serato and Traktor write automatic database backups you copy off the machine yourself, and none of them save your audio unless you ask. The backup only counts once you have restored it somewhere and watched your playlists come back.

Back up your DJ library in any DJ app, step by step.
Every app keeps its library data in a different folder, so no single command covers all four. Here is how to backup DJ library data in Rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro, Traktor Pro, and Engine DJ, plus the one copy step that happens outside the app.
Copy the music files first
No DJ app saves your audio by default. Quit the app, then copy the folder that holds your music to an external drive. Serato's own guidance is to never rename the files while copying, because the database finds each track by its exact file path and shows renamed tracks as missing. Keep the folder structure identical on both drives.
Rekordbox: File, Library, Backup Library
In Rekordbox, click [Library] in the [File] menu on the upper screen, then [Backup Library], then [OK]. Rekordbox asks [Do you want to back up music files as well?]. Choose Yes when you are moving to a new computer: the audio is written to a [rekordbox_bak] folder. Pick a path, click [Save], and wait for [Collection was backed up.]
Serato: copy _Serato_ and the Library folder
Serato DJ Pro keeps crates and the database in the _Serato_ folder inside your Music folder, and history, preferences, and crate order in a separate Library folder under Application Support > Serato on macOS or AppData > Local > Serato on Windows. Quit Serato, then copy both. Serato also auto-backs up the databases to Serato/Library/Backups every 24 hours.
Traktor: take the newest file from Backup, Collection
Traktor writes a backup of your Track Collection each time you change it and close the app. The files sit in the Backup and Collection folders inside Traktor's Root Directory, named Collection plus the date and time, with the .nml extension. Copy the newest one off the machine. For a copy that carries the audio too, right-click Track Collection and choose Export the Collection with Copy Tracks To Destination enabled.
Engine DJ: Preferences, Library tab, Library Backup
Open Preferences in Engine DJ, go to the Library tab, and find Library Backup in the System section. Click Backup and leave the app running until it finishes. Engine DJ also prompts a backup every 7 days when you quit, unless you already updated it by hand. Only the database on your computer is saved: databases on external drives are not included.
Restore it once, before you need to
Test the restore on a spare machine or a second user account. Rekordbox uses [Library] then [Restore Library] and reads the .zip or .edb file. Traktor uses right-click on Track Collection, then Import another Collection, then the file from the Backup folder. Engine DJ has Restore beside Backup. Serato has no restore button: you close the app and swap the files back by hand.
The catch
A backup that lives on the same drive as the library is not a backup. Engine DJ leaves external drive databases out of its backup entirely, Serato restores are a manual file swap that overwrites recent changes with no undo, and a rekordbox backup without music files only rebuilds the database. Keep at least two dated copies on separate hardware.
