Find and remove duplicate tracks in Traktor Pro, step by step.

Traktor Pro 4 does not have a one-click duplicate finder. Sorting the track collection by filename or title lets you spot duplicates manually, and the Consistency Check (accessed by right-clicking the Track Collection) surfaces missing and relocated files that may represent orphaned imports. The steps below cover the full native workflow.

01

Run the Consistency Check

Open Traktor Pro 4. In the Browser panel, right-click the Track Collection folder and select Check Consistency. Traktor will scan your collection and display the Consistency Check Report, which lists tracks with broken or missing file paths. Entries it cannot locate on disk can point to orphaned imports from old locations. To make the report appear automatically at each startup instead, open Preferences > File Management and check 'Show Consistency Check Report on Startup' - but this is a startup option, not the trigger for running the check manually.

02

Sort your collection by filename or title

In the Track Collection, click the Title or Filename column header to sort alphabetically. Duplicates with identical or near-identical names will appear next to each other, making them easy to spot visually. Check the file path column as well, since the same audio file may have been imported from two different folders.

03

Compare file paths and remove unwanted entries

Right-click a suspected duplicate and choose Show in Explorer (Windows) or Show in Finder (Mac) to confirm which physical file it points to. Once you have identified the copy you want to remove, right-click it in the collection and select Remove from Collection. This removes the entry from Traktor only and does not delete the file from disk unless you choose to do so separately.

04

Relocate or delete the underlying files

If you want to remove the duplicate audio file from disk entirely, do so in Finder or Explorer after removing the entry from Traktor. Afterward, right-click the Track Collection and run Check Consistency once more to confirm no broken entries remain. To save your collection manually, right-click the Track Collection folder and select Save Collection. Traktor also auto-saves the collection when it closes normally.

The catch

Traktor Pro 4 has no automated duplicate-detection algorithm. The Consistency Check finds missing or relocated files but does not flag true duplicates (two valid entries pointing to different copies of the same file). Finding those requires manual sorting and visual comparison.

Where Vibes fits

Audit your metadata before you clean up

Vibes does not detect duplicates directly, but it gives you a cleaner starting point. Use it to find tracks missing BPM or key, tag your library by energy and feel, then export a tidy NML back into Traktor before your cleanup pass.

See how it works
Filter for tracks missing BPM or key using the built-in selector in All Songs, so incomplete imports are easy to spot before you audit for duplicates
Re-analyze BPM and key with Vibes track analysis (Skey neural net, downbeat-locked beatgrid) to give every track consistent metadata before comparing entries
Tag tracks by vibe, energy, and role so that after removing duplicates your remaining library is already organized and ready to prep
Export a clean NML directly back into Traktor Pro so your post-cleanup collection reflects all metadata corrections without a manual re-import

Organize in Vibes, export to Traktor Pro.

Your playlists, tags, ratings, and cue points travel back to the gear you play on, so nothing you do in Vibes is locked away.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

No. Traktor Pro 4 does not include an automated duplicate-detection tool. The Consistency Check finds missing or relocated files, but identifying true duplicates requires sorting the collection by title or filename and comparing entries manually.
No. Vibes is a library prep and export app, not a duplicate scanner. It helps you audit and clean up metadata before or after a Traktor cleanup session, but the actual duplicate identification and removal still happens inside Traktor Pro.
No. Choosing Remove from Collection in Traktor only removes the database entry. The audio file remains on disk until you delete it manually in Finder or Explorer.
