Waveform Generator
Drop in a track and get a waveform image back: bars, a smoothed line, a filled area, or dots, in any color, on any background, at any size. Everything renders live in your browser as you adjust it, and downloads as a PNG at the exact resolution you pick or a scalable SVG built from real vector shapes. Your audio file never leaves your device.

What it is for
What People Use Waveform Images For
A waveform image turns the shape of a track into something you can use anywhere a photo or a graphic would go. The most common uses: cover art for a single or an EP, where the waveform of the actual track becomes the artwork instead of a stock photo; social posts, dropping a banner-shaped waveform behind a release announcement or a tour date; podcast and video clips, where a waveform gives a static audio player something to show while it plays; and merch prints such as a t-shirt, poster, or vinyl label built from the waveform of a specific song, usually exported as SVG so the print shop can scale it to any size without losing quality.
Format guidance
PNG vs SVG: Which to Export
Both formats come from the exact same waveform data, so the choice is about what you are going to do with the file next, not which looks better.
| Use case | Best format | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Social post, cover art, web banner | PNG | Fixed size, ready to upload as-is |
| Print, merch, vinyl label, poster | SVG | Vector shapes scale to any size with no blur |
| Editing further in Illustrator or Figma | SVG | Bars and paths stay editable objects |
| Dropping straight into a video editor | PNG | Universally supported as a static image layer |
PNG renders at the exact pixel dimensions you pick, up to 4096px, so choose the size for where the image is going before exporting. SVG has no fixed resolution at all: the file describes the bars, line, or dots as shapes, so it prints or displays sharp whether it ends up as a 400px icon or a 10-foot banner.
Backgrounds and color
Transparent Backgrounds and Matching Your Brand
Set the background to transparent when the waveform needs to sit on top of something else: a photo, a video frame, an existing cover design, or a colored page background. The PNG export keeps the alpha channel, and the SVG has no background element at all, so both drop cleanly onto any surface.
For the waveform color itself, the free color picker takes any hex value, so you can match your label, artist, or brand color exactly instead of settling for a preset. The lavender-to-pink gradient is the same gradient used across Vibes track panels, a quick way to get a two-tone look without picking two colors by hand.
To visualize the frequency content behind a waveform rather than just its shape, the spectrogram analyzer breaks a track down by frequency over time, and the music visualizer turns the same kind of analysis into a moving, audio-reactive video instead of a still image. If you also need the track's key and tempo, the song key and BPM finder runs the same in-browser decoding to pull both out.

- How this page is made
- Tool pages are built from reusable page logic, internal DJ reference data, and visible on-page calculations. Programmatic reference pages are generated from structured data rather than hand-written one by one.
BPM, key, and genre labels can vary by edit, remaster, detection engine, and DJ software. Use these pages as a practical mixing reference, then verify important tracks in your own library.
