How to ยท Rekordbox

Filter tracks by BPM range in Rekordbox.

Rekordbox lets you sort and filter your library by BPM, but setting up reusable tempo crates takes several steps. Vibes exports BPM-range subfolders straight into Rekordbox so the work is already done before you open the app.

Filter tracks by BPM range in Rekordbox, step by step.

Rekordbox 7.x offers a column-based BPM sort and an Intelligent Playlist rule set that can isolate tracks by tempo. Here is the most direct path to each approach.

01

Analyze your tracks

Select all unanalyzed tracks in your Collection, right-click, and choose Analyze Tracks. Rekordbox must detect BPM before any tempo filter can work. Without analysis the BPM column stays blank and filtering returns no results.

02

Sort or search by BPM in Collection view

Click the BPM column header in your Collection to sort tracks by tempo. You can then scroll to the range you want and drag those tracks into a playlist manually. This is quick for a one-off pull but creates nothing reusable.

03

Build an Intelligent Playlist for a fixed BPM range

Right-click the Playlist section in the sidebar and choose Create New Intelligent Playlist. Set the condition to BPM, pick '[is in the range]', and enter your lower and upper values, for example 124 and 128. Rekordbox populates the playlist automatically from tracks that match and updates it as your library grows.

04

Refine and nest your playlists

You can stack multiple conditions inside one Intelligent Playlist, such as BPM range plus a MyTag value, using 'Match all of the following conditions' logic. Group related tempo playlists inside a folder by creating a Playlist Folder in the sidebar. This keeps your sidebar organized when you maintain several BPM brackets.

The catch

Each BPM bracket requires its own Intelligent Playlist rule set, and changes to your collection do not propagate to CDJ-ready USB exports until you re-export through Export mode.

The faster way

Pre-built BPM crates waiting in Rekordbox before you open it

Vibes has a live BPM range filter built into the All Songs view, and when you export it can write BPM-range subfolders directly into your Rekordbox library, no Intelligent Playlist rules required.

See how it works
Drag the BPM range filter in All Songs to narrow your full library to any tempo window instantly
Combine the BPM filter with Camelot key, vibe tags, and star rating for precise track selection
Export with BPM-range subdivision enabled and Vibes creates a labeled crate per bracket inside Rekordbox automatically
Re-export any time your library grows and the BPM crates update without rebuilding any playlist rules

Organize in Vibes, export to Rekordbox.

Your playlists, tags, ratings, and cue points travel back to the gear you play on, so nothing you do in Vibes is locked away.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers, including the trade-offs.

Not entirely. Vibes handles the prep side: filtering, organizing, and exporting BPM-range crates into Rekordbox. You still use Rekordbox to export your library to USB for CDJ playback. The two tools work together rather than one replacing the other.
Yes. In an Intelligent Playlist you can add both a BPM range condition and a Comment or MyTag condition, though Rekordbox does not have a native Camelot key filter. Vibes lets you combine a BPM range filter with a Camelot wheel key filter in one view before you export.
Intelligent Playlists update in your Rekordbox Collection as tracks are added or analyzed, but you must re-export to your USB device through Export mode for the updated playlists to appear on your CDJs.
