How to Write a DJ Bio
A DJ bio is your professional introduction. It appears on SoundCloud, Resident Advisor, booking platforms, festival websites, and venue listings. It needs to communicate who you are, what you sound like, and why someone should book or listen to you, all in 2-3 sentences.
Use this generator to create a starting point, then personalize it with your actual achievements, specific releases, and real venue names. The best bios are specific and factual. "Releases on Drumcode and Afterlife" is stronger than "releases on respected labels." Don't have a DJ name yet, or need to name a label you've released on? Handle those first, then write the bio around them.
Bio Structure Checklist
- Opening line: Name, location, and primary genre, because this is what promoters scan first
- Sound description: What you actually sound like in specific terms, not vague adjectives
- Key achievements: Releases, residencies, notable venues, festival appearances, press features
- Current activity: What you're working on now or what's coming next
Where to Use Your DJ Bio
- SoundCloud & Spotify: Short version (1-2 sentences) for the "about" section
- Resident Advisor: Full version (100-200 words) for your artist profile
- Booking profiles: Professional version with contact info and technical requirements
- Social media: Ultra-short version (under 160 characters) for Instagram and Twitter/X bios
- Press kits: Extended version with high-res photos, release history, and testimonials

How this page is made: Tool pages are built from reusable page logic, internal DJ reference data, and visible on-page calculations. Programmatic reference pages are generated from structured data rather than hand-written one by one.
BPM, key, and genre labels can vary by edit, remaster, detection engine, and DJ software. Use these pages as a practical mixing reference, then verify important tracks in your own library.
